Save$um Kid's Banking Program

The Save$um Banking program is an inter-active, hands-on educational program designed specifically to educate children on the importance of saving money, being self-disciplined, and knowing the self-satisfaction of watching their money grow.

This program gives children the opportunity to develop money management skills, learn how to reach financial goals, and become a "SAVE$UM" saver by:

• Getting started early
• Adding to their account regularly
• Leaving their money alone long enough for it to increase in value

   

Save$um Savings Account

• No Minimum balance
• No monthly service charge
• Athol Savings Bank will add $2.00 to each new student's initial deposit
• Once a student makes 25 deposits, Athol Savings Bank will deposit an additional $5.00 to the student's account

Save$um Certificate of Deposit

• Save$um students who accumulate $250.00 or more may transfer their money into a 6 month Save$um certificate of deposit

As an introduction to the savings program, Athol Savings Bank will add $2.00 to each new student's initial deposit. In addition, when a student makes 25 deposits, Athol Savings Bank will deposit an additional $5.00 to the student's account.

Athol Savings Bank also offers those children who have $250 or more in their account the opportunity to transfer their money into a 6 month Save$um certificate of deposit. Save$um accounts are not just for students in participating schools. They may be opened for children at any of our Branch locations.

The Save$um program was created as a school banking program and is very successful in several area schools including:

Pleasant St School - Athol
Phillipston Center School - Phillipston
Toy Town Elementary School - Winchendon
JR Briggs - Ashburnham
 

Athol Savings Bank trains and utilizes students at each school to "work" as tellers at the Save$um Bank in their school. Interested students are invited to fill out a job application and go through an interview process with Athol Savings Bank personnel and are "hired" to work as student tellers. The student tellers are supervised by staff from Athol Savings Bank and parent volunteers.
