Deposit Checks with your phone

Deposit checks quickly by following a few simple steps. Capture images with your mobile device, and receive onscreen confirmation that the deposit was received. You have 180 days of deposit history available to you. Including, the status of the deposit, the deposit amount, and the check image.

You must be a registered Online Banking user and have downloaded our app to your mobile device. You do need to register for Mobile Deposit before you can make your first deposit, but that's easy! Just tap the Deposit Checks tab on the mobile app. You will be presented with a screen which displays the Terms and Conditions. Once you accept the Terms and Conditions, you will receive a confirmation email within one business day.

What is Mobile Deposit?

ASB’s Mobile Deposit is a way to electronically deposit checks using your iPhone®, iPad®, or Android™ device and our Mobile Banking app.

How much does it cost to deposit a check with my phone/tablet?

Mobile Deposit is free to Athol Savings Bank customers. Simply download our Mobile app to begin. Standard data rates may apply from your wireless carrier.

How do I register for Mobile Deposit?

You must first register for ASB’s Online Banking. Once activated, download our Mobile app (the updated version if you already have our current app), and login using the same Username and Password as Online Banking.
The "Deposit" or "Deposit Checks" tab will appear in the menu screen. You will be prompted to read and accept the Terms and Conditions the first time you click on the tab. Once you accept the Terms and Conditions, you will receive notification from us within one business day with your registration decision.

Why am I unable to deposit my check?

There are a few common errors that may cause your check to be rejected:

  • Folded or torn corners
  • Front image not legible
  • Amounts not matching
  • Routing and/or account numbers are unclear
  • No camera on the device
  • Image too dark
  • Check not endorsed with "For Mobile Deposit"

Use Mobile Deposit in a well-lit area to prevent shadows and poor image quality. Keep your hands clear of the check while taking the picture.

When can I expect my Mobile Deposit to be processed?

The deposit will post to your account generally within 2 business days. Deposits received after 4:00 PM M-F, on weekends, or Holidays will be processed the following business day.

How long do I need to keep the original checks?

Please hold the original check for 30 days and then shred it.

What devices are supported?

Currently, Mobile Deposit works with the following devices: iPhone®, iPad®, and Android™ devices.

Are Android™ tablets and Kindle Fire supported?

Yes, Android tablets are now supported in the newest update released for our app! Also, current versions of the Kindle Fire that are supported are those with a front and back facing camera.

  • BAL - Current and available balances for a primary account you designate
  • LAST - The last five transactions on your primary account
  • TRANS - Transfer funds to the primary account

To activate Text Message Banking, log into Online Banking from a PC and click Additional Services > Alerts and Notifications

  • iPhones® or iPads® should have an operating system of 7.0 or greater
  • Android™ Phones and tablets should have an operating system of 4.1 or greater

Mobile Banking with Athol Savings Bank is safe and secure!

  • All information is encrypted which means that neither the wireless carrier, nor anyone else, is able to infringe on the wireless signal, nor will anyone be able to decipher any information sent to the phone or other mobile device.
  • Mobile Banking uses an authentication process to validate the user and the device. Once the device is authenticated the first time, it will not be necessary for future logins unless the user erases the cookie from the device.
  • Secure login information is not stored on the device.
  • Mobile Banking times out after 10 minutes of inactivity or if the application is closed.
  • Mobile Banking uses the same lockout procedures as Online Banking. Account is locked out after a predetermined number of bad login attempts and will need to be reset.
  • Account numbers are masked and only display the last 4 digits.

Here’s what you can do to keep your Mobile Banking information safe:

  • Avoid clicking on links in text messages or emails, since they may lead to malicious websites or downloads.
  • Don't save login information on your mobile device, especially to online banking sites.
  • Password protect your mobile device, and set it to auto-lock after a certain period of time.
  • Before downloading any app, make sure it is from a known provider. Then read the app's privacy policy to make sure that it is not sharing your personal information.
  • Install malware and virus protection software on your device, and keep it up to date.
